What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

Happy Friday, quilters! Today I have the wrap up post for our Scrappy Mountains block drive. These first two quilts were assembled by Becky and quilted by Doris on her long arm. 

I loved this block drive, the design and the color scheme and all the quilts that were made! We ended up with a total of 9 quilts.

Quite a few of them got backings from this fabric line with the really deep blue and teal that coordinated perfectly with the blocks. This yardage was donated by my local quilt shop friend.

Happy Friday, quilters! I have more of the block drive potato chip quilts to show.  These first two quilts were assembled by Becky and quilted by Doris. Big thanks to those two ladies!

I love the classic patchwork look of these blocks and Doris did a great job with her quilting, as always.

I'm really fond of this yellow fabric with blue flowers on the backing. I'm pretty certain this is one of the ones my local quilt shop friend gave me when she closed her shop.

Happy Friday, quilters! This week I have tops by Priscilla and quilted by three different quilters. This first one was quilted by me, I think the colors are really fun.

Next up, a HUGE disappearing nine patch quilted by Doris. This one is a really show-stopper. The colors are so coordinated it doesn't even look like a scrap quilt until you look close. 

Lastly, a jelly-roll-race style top quilted by Linda.  I like the effect of having the dark strips in the middle with the light ones on the outside.

Happy Friday, quilters! I have a couple more of the Scrappy Mountain quilts from our block drive to show this week. Both of these were assembled by Becky and quilted by Linda.

The multicolor thread Linda chose coordinates great with the colors in the top.

For the backings I used some donated fabric in navy and teal with metallic copper highlights.

I think Becky did a really good job choosing which blocks together and laying out the tops.

I've been busy sewing this week. Mostly assembling tops from your blocks, but I did sew up a string block top from a box of scraps Rena sent me.

This beautiful jelly roll race was sent in as a top and quilted up by Linda. I love the design with the navy blocks and the fabric line is really pretty.

Happy Friday, quilters! This week's quilts were all tops from Priscilla which were quilted by Linda on her long arm.

Priscilla never fails to make the most cozy and beautiful scrap quilts. 

The multi colored thread Linda used on this one complements it perfectly.

I've just gotten back from a nice trip to Santa Fe visiting friends. It's always beautiful up there and so relaxing. 

This quilt with the yellow squares and the strips would be good for a block drive. I can see a lot of options for layouts.

Happy Friday, Quilters!  The first of the quilts from our potato chips block drive have started to be completed. This quilt top was made by Bonnie and quilted by Linda.

Next top by Edna, quilted by Linda. Things continue to go along well here. I recently to a big delivery of quilts to the two Tyler hospitals. As flu season is starting along with an uptick in covid they are unfortunately busy.

Happy Friday, Quilters! Almost a year ago 2 friends worked together to make 5 quilts top for CiL, they even shipped a bolt of fabric for backing. We seem to have finished all of Suzanne's quilt tops first, so Kathy's will be upcoming. This first one is Suzanne's top quilted by Linda. 

This next mosaic top was also made by Suzanne and was quilted by Doris on her long arm. Thank you to all our volunteers!!

Happy Friday Quilters! Recently I was fortunate enough to meet one of CiL's quilters in real life! Linda has been quilting for CiL since 2020 and has quilted over 150 quilts for us on her longarm. 

The two quilts in this post are some of her own that she has donated. It was wonderful after years of emails and boxes going back and forth to actually meet. We browsed a quilt shop and had lunch after she was kind enough to pick me up from the airport.

This gigantic and beautiful batik top was made by Diane and would have been a beast to quilt on a domestic machine. Thank you Linda!

This pretty trail fence top was sent in by Kathy. You can see that I was fighting the sun to take these pictures. I also got a sunburn.

Happy Friday, quilters! I have more of Christy's shirtings quilts to show off this week.  I absolutely love this first one with its flag-ish pattern.

Linda quilted this one on her long arm and did a wonderful job.  Up close the blocks don't align perfectly, but I think it adds to the overall rustic-ness.

Next, this zigzag quilt which reminds me of Charlie Brown.

This one was also quilted by Linda and looks wonderfully cozy.  (I apologize for the crappy indoor pictures. I needed to photograph them so I could take them to the hospital, and the weather ...

Happy Friday, Quilters! It's the first block drive finish since we started back up. These three quilts are from the Mod Mosaic block drive we did in Jan-March this year. 

I sent all the blocks we got in to Linda and she assembled and quilted them. I actually love how these came out. They look better in person than they do in the photos.
